When does God hear prayers?
1. Common situations that people assume God is listening to their prayers:
* When a child is sick or hurt
* When someone dies or a life tragedy
* When living with a partner and unmarried or not following the Lord in their life
* Living a divided life- part worldly and part for God
* When they consider themselves to be a good person
2. God does not hear the prayers of some people.
To hear means: give audience; to hear intelligently, attentively. Who does He not hear?
A. People who have not accepted Jesus as their savior.
B. Those who are saved but holding iniquity in the heart.
Iniquity: strictly nothingness; also trouble. vanity, wickedness; specifically an idol
Isaiah 59:2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
Psalm 66:18 If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:
Proverbs 28:9 He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.
John 9:31 Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.
Daniel 10:12 Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words.
Proverbs 15:29 The LORD is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.
1 Peter 3:12 For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.
Psalm 34:15 The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.
Matthew 5:23,24 Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.
1 Peter 3:7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.
James 4:3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts
(God hears those walking with Him but sometime the answer is "No".
