Spiritual War
1. Who is in this war?
A. God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, Angels
B. Satan, demons- he is a fallen angel and drew other angels with him.
Isaiah 14:12-14 Lucifer son of the morning Ezekiel 28:14-16 anointed cherub
Revelation 12:4 A third of the angels cast out of heaven with Lucifer
Matthew 25:41 Hell created for the devil and his angels
C. People
2. How are we used in this war? Like pawns in a chess game. The war is between God and Satan. We are used by both. God uses us for good- to glorify Him. Satan uses us for his sadistic gain.
A. 2 Corinthians 4:4 The god of this world hath blinded the minds
B. Ephesians 6:12 We wrestle against spiritual wickedness
C. 2 Corinthians 11:13-15 Satan is transformed into an angel of light
D. 1 Peter 5:8 The devil walks about seeking to devour
E. Luke 22:31 Satan desires to sift you like wheat
F. Tactics of Satan:
*Counterfeit Christianity (leading people to believe they are saved).
*Sits up situations where we look stupid, worthless, like a liar, etc. so we will give up.
* He gets us thinking evil (bad) of others and they about us.
*Coercive propaganda. Definition: to force to think in a certain way.
G. We play a part in the spiritual war
* The world and our flesh play a part in this war. 1 John 2:16.The lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life.
James 1:13-15 drawn away of his own lust
*Satan can capitalize on these things by baiting us but we have these within: Mark 7:21-23 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications
3. How should we operate in this war?
A. Ephesians 6:13-18 Put on the armour of God.
B. Have the right perspective:
*We are soldiers for Christ. 2 Timothy2:3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
* Don't be entangled with the things of this world. 2 Timothy 2:4 No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life...
*Our purpose is to glorify God. We literally have a once in a lifetime opportunity. Expect suffering and glorify God. 1 Peter 4:16; Philippians 1:29
*2 Corinthians 10:3-5 Cast down imaginations and things that exalt themselves above God.
