Salvation
1. What is sin?
A. Sin is the transgression of the law. 1 John 3:4 A voluntary transgression or voluntary omission of what is right. The law is both written on our hearts/minds and it is written for our reading. Romans 2: 14,15; Exodus 20: 3-17
B. Sin is not doing good. James 4:17
C. Whatsoever is not of faith is sin. Romans 14:23
2. All have sinned. We are born sinners.
Romans 3:23; Romans 3:10-12; Romans 5:12
3. God has set forth a penalty for sin.
John 3:18; Romans 6:23; John 5:24; Romans 5:17-19; Revelation 21:8
4. Does a particular sin send us to hell? James 2:10; Romans 5:19
5. We need to be saved from hell.
Revelation 20:10; Revelation 21:8; Revelation 14:11; Mark 9:44; Mark 9:47; Luke 16:23; Matthew 8:12
6. God paid our penalty for our sin.
Romans 5:18; Romans 5:8; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Romans 3:24,25; 1 John 2:2; 1 John 4:10
7. No other way to heaven- no other way to be justified from our sins than by Jesus.
A. Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other; John 14:6 no man cometh unto the father but by me. 1 John 4:14 the son to be the saviour of the world.
B. Not by works (moral duties or external performances) Ephesians 2:8,9; Romans 4:5. Saying a prayer for salvation is a work; water baptism is a work. Our righteousnesses are as filthy rags Isaiah 64:6 Broke one law- guilty of them all James 2:10
C. Some preach another Jesus 2 Corinthians 11:3,4; preach any other gospel be accursed Galatians 1:6-9
8. We must be born again- John 3:3-8
A. No man seeks after God Romans 3:11. He draws us to himself John 6:44. Salvation is from Him Titus 2:11; Matthew 16:16,17
B. We are without excuse and God calls all to be saved. Colossians 1:23; Romans 1:20; 2 Peter 3:9; 1 Timothy 2:4
C. Even though Jesus died for all, not all will be saved. We must accept his gift of salvation.

D. Here is the gospel that we must believe: 1 Corinthians 15:1-4
9. Now you are justified, sanctified, holy, sons of God, seated in heavenly places, no more condemnation. Our position with God.
